News #102
We would like to start off this weeks news by thanking all those who entered our Billboard contest. We will be posting the entries soon for a public vote where you can pick your favorites that will make it in game!

Ga-Knomboe Boy has been at work on a new urban map that we would like to show off a couple teasers for. This map is small, tight, and infantry focused. Take a peek yourself and see.

Our other item this week is a small in game video featuring the Littlebird. Daarken and Raptor were flying around on Berezan Island by SgtWedge and made this little video. The video highlights the bird as well as some effects that Dfast has been working on for our mini guns. Check it out!

We are still looking for 3Dmax coders, modelers, and skinners.
Keep your eyes peeled for more info on our billboard contest entries and more news from PoE.

News #101
It’s time for the weekend and we are back to post POE:2 news #101.

Things are moving forward here on the warfront and we are very pleased with the amount of people downloading our latest video that was released last week. IllitiFilms has already begun working on another video to showcase something new we want to show to the public but he wasn’t able to get it completed by our news posting deadline. Maybe we’ll be lucky to have something from him next week or the week after if things get too busy for him. Last week we showcased the F-18 Fighter with our official render so this week we’ll post a few screenshots for your viewing pleasure:

Our newest member of the level design team “Michi.be” has been very busy. For those that don’t know, Michi.be is a multi-talented developer who can develop his own static’s and everything else involving level design. Just happened to see an updated screenshot of one of the static’s he’s developing so figured it’s better to get it shown in our official news release.

SgtWedge was able to submit screenshots for another map that is a “work-in-progress” for him. The new map is named “Odessa” and it’s turning out to be a beauty!

This week’s Picture of the Week was submitted by steel9898. The title for the POTW is Yea! Come get some!!

We have to thank the next two Battlefield:2 community gaming sites for all of the support they are providing to our mod and to the POE:2 community. One is based in Europe (Sweden) and the other is located in the North America (USA). If you are looking for organized gaming fun any night of the week then check either one of these sites out! Datorbutiken.com has a Wednesday Night Madness and Tacticalgamer.com continues to be the busiest North American POE:2 server. Click on the graphical links below for more information.

Wednesday war is a weekly event held by Datorbutiken which is a Swedish Battlefield 2 community with a large taste for POE:2.

They have 2 servers running the modification 24/7 and are 40 slots and 64 slots.

Datorbutiken.com #7

IP Address: 212.247.85.205:16567

Datorbutiken.com #8

IP Address:212.247.85.243:16567

The event itself is just a pub game of POE2, people from the forums and other Battlefield community sites join up for some POE2 action, games start officially at 9PM CET (3PM EST) and usually last until well past midnight. Server count usually exceeds 50 for a couple hours at peak time and stays above 30 for several hours after. To help get people ready for the fun matches the main administrators have been communicating with DrunkenPirate on Monday of each week so that he can update the topics listed below:

TacticalGamer.com PoE2 Server 1

IP Address: 64.34.165.134:16567

We’ve only received one submission for the “Billboard” contest that we announced last week. The deadline for the contest is May 29th, 2007 at 5:00 pm Est (-5GMT). If you missed the announcement then click on the following LINK. First place winner will be sent a Alienware T-shirt, 2nd Place a Alienware Hat, and 3rd Place a Stainless Steel Coffee Mug. We will post the submissions when the deadline is over and allow the registered users of our forums to vote for the top 3 billboards. The prizes are just a token of our appreciation which we were able to get from Alienware.com. The top three winners will also have their work included into a future build of POE:2 so please don’t let this pass you by – submit your artist work today!

If you want to be part of the POE Developer motivational movement we ask you to help them out by showing how much you want the next version to be released. Head to one of the different servers online and play a few rounds with your friends – or join one of the community Battlefield sites above and play in their organized game sessions. Help us by submitting your “billboard” art work for the billboard contest or simply assist by passing the word that we are not dead and get your friends playing the different Battlefield:2 mods (of course POE:2). The work will continue as long as we have a reason to do so – so please take a moment and wonder what your “Point of Existence" really is….

News #100

Welcome back for our 100th POE:2 news posting. So how do we get more people playing POE:2 online? It’s always a question that comes to mind as we continue our development. Currently there are a few mods out for Battlefield:2 that are continuing their development, some teams that are still working on their initial release, and some that unfortunately have either merged with other teams or closed their doors for good. The team has been throwing some ideas around and it is looking like we are going to try and get back to the original Battlefield mod process of releasing smaller content builds to speed up how often we release to the public. We are still brain storming ideas on how we are going to do it so stay tuned to our weekly news postings as we’ll post more information once we have made some decisions as a team. Another item that we are going to add to our weekly news postings will be the “Picture of the Week” which are submitted by our fans and we might also include POTW’s from our testing staff from test sessions that they participate in which will include new content. Stating that, the first thing this week is the POTW posted on April 29, 2007 in our POE2 Picture of the Week topic area. The screenshot is named “Ready and Waiting..” which was submitted by =RAV= Raptor. Taken on the TG server, Drunkenpirate and Raptor were hunting 3 other guys on the Ukraine team. For those fans who are interested with submitting their screenshots for the POTW please go HERE for the instructions on how to submit them.

Going back to our POE:1 mod development days you might remember the model that D_Fast created of the F/A-18EF Super Hornet which “Devil” and “D_Fast” skinned together. This bad boy has been converted to POE:2 standards and is currently flying around in our internal tester build. Next week we’ll showcase the in-game screenshots of it.

Last week we had announced that we would be posting a new movie from “IllicitFilms” so here we are. The testers during their internal test session worked with Illicitfilms to produce the Crimea Map Level Preview for your viewing pleasure. The map is a work in progress and is being developed by Greasy_Mullet Let’s see what new content you might see in the video preview. Some of the items being included have been ported from our POE:1 mod which was built on the Battlefield:Vietnam engine. We appreciate all of the support from the following community sites that were able to host our movie preview this week. The movie has been provided in both .mov & .wmv formats. The quality is the same so choose which file type is the best for you!

One of the great sponsors for the Moddb.com “Mod of the Year” contest was Alienware.com this year. We were very fortunate to win the contest and very grateful for how Alienware.com was willing to work with us. One of the prizes that they offered to give the winner was a fully loaded Alienware computer. Since we have over 25 people on our team we couldn’t justify giving the computer to just one person – so Alienware provided a solution to our issue and allowed us to pick items from their GEARBOX website instead. This allowed for all of our members to be awarded something. Alienware.com definitely stepped up to the plate and provided a great solution to our team. Stating that, we have also been given items that we can use to give out to our fans as prizes. The first contest that we’ll host is from an idea |TG|WiskeySix suggested from a contest that |TG|Kilrogg had to get the community involved with a map he was designing for another map design contest that Tactical Gamer was having. His idea was to have their community members get involved by having a “billboard” contest for the map he was designing. We thought this was a slick idea and appreciate the guys at Tactical Gamer for suggesting this to us. So stating that, we will be hosting a “Billboard” contest. The rules are plain and simple, the image MUST be 512x256 pixels and preferably in .PNG format. For the theme for the billboards, you have the ability to promote your clan, community website, or anything that is artistic in nature. We will post the images in our forums and will allow our registered forum readers to vote for the best 3 billboards. For more information about the contest head over to the forum POST. First place winner will be sent a Alienware T-shirt, 2nd Place a Alienware Hat, and 3rd Place a Stainless Steel Coffee Mug which are shown below.

To finish off the news we wanted to let everyone know that if you are from Australia that the Australia Battlefield website has received a new face lift. Ausbattlefield's is on of Australia's larger community run sites. Primarily focused on the Battlefield series they also cover a wide array of other genres and games. Ausbf has been around since late 2002 and has gone through quite a few developmental phases to reach the new look site that we recently revealed boasting quite a few new features such as interactive profiles and soon to be tipping covering most of the popular Australian ladders well as site run competitions. Revamped POE forums where Aussie fans can read the weekly updates. The 700+ members are what really keep the site alive and in a constant state of activity and we are always looking for more so feel free to drop by and have a chat.

So that’s it for this week. We hope you enjoy the map preview video and we look forward to seeing what people can come up with in the Billboard contest.
