Knee Deep
“Knee Deep“ takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center. Aiming to retrieve the valuable intel housed in the command post, troops fight through the jungle, wade knee deep in streams and take battle positions in fortified Japanese bunkers to secure this important communication center. Ideal for all combat scenarios and designed for larger team games and objective matches.
Nightfire
Fire-bombed Berlin provides the backdrop for “Nightfire,“ an intense battlefield for mid to large-scale team games. Shelled buildings and ruins of the city provide coverage among the war-ravaged streets, and the flames of the burning city expose the enemy running through the night. Fight for your life knowing that this fiery urban battlefield may soon be your grave.
Station
“Station“ offers a bombed out underground train station littered with destroyed subway cars, hidden passageways, loading platforms and second story overlooks. This medium sized map is perfect for dominating Capture the Flag and other team games and provides a wide range of combat options from close range choke points to hidden sniper spots.

The 581MB v1.4 Call of Duty: World At War PC patch will upgrade copies of Treyarch's game previously patched to version 1.2 or 1.3. If on an earlier version, first download and install the 1.2 patch. If you're running a German version of the game you'll have to download a special patch, "due to content restrictions." Included are the four new maps that console users paid $10 for, and some new bug, exploit and mod making changes:
- 3 new Multiplayer maps: Kneedeep, Nightfire, Station!
- Nazi Zombies map with more weapons, Perks-a-Cola machines, and electroshock defenses: Verrückt!
- Improved spawning logic.
- Auto balancing improvements. Players are no longer auto balanced while completing objectives.
- Mods: IWD's can be placed in the usermaps folder.
- Mods: Hold Breath / Sprint functions as intended.
- Mods: MissingAssets.csv is generated when maps are run with developer set to 1.
- Fixed lag caused by shooting at tanks.
- All rifle grenades fired during the first 15 seconds of Search & Destroy will be duds.
- Players who equip a Bouncing Betty and melee teammates in Hardcore game modes are now credited with a team kill penalty.
- Players are now deducted 200 points for team killing the bomb planter/defuser in Hardcore Search & Destroy.
- Martyrdom no longer causes direct impact deaths in Hardcore modes.
- "Bayonet jumping" has been disabled.

As noted in the last patch news from the COD forums, the map pack will be free for PC gamers when patch 1.4 is finally released:
"You’ll be happy to know that Map Pack 1 will be completely free for PC users, and included in the Patch 1.4 installer!" While this has pissed off most console users, I am sure the PC users can rejoice. But this joy will be short lived because since it has been proven in other new games (Farcry2) some PC users are willing to pay for new perks. Our free ride is over PC users....I know a sad day. |

The latest set of Nvidia GeForce beta drivers claim to increase World At War performance "up to 11%." A bold claim, but as always, Nvidia follows up with, "results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings." Any improvement is a plus....go grab your version.
